OPEN LETTER TO PARENTS Malta, Helen O'Grady Drama Academy Malta

30th March 2020

Dear parents and students,

Firstly, I would like to sincerely thank you for being part of the Helen O’Grady Academy family.

This is an unprecedented time in our history. The COVID-19 pandemic is impacting the way we live in ways that we are not yet able to fully understand because it is constantly evolving. It seems like only yesterday that we were laughing at memes about toilet paper – today those memes are no longer funny.  What was normal yesterday will not be the normal we will return to when we come out the other side of this but know we will come out possibly bruised but not beaten.

Government has just confirmed that schools will remain closed till the end of June. These drastic measures are for our own safety and the safety of our loved ones. Rest assured that the Helen O'Grady Academy will remain open for business through our ZOOM online portal.

More than ever we are committed to offering our students a sense of CONTINUITY, CONSISTENCY and STABILITY. More than ever, interaction and friendships with peers are vital to a sense of well-being and we will provide that for you.

The welfare of our students and children, in general, is very important to us. We have spoken to the experts who insist that offering students a sense of continuity and wellbeing is important to their development.  We are determined to break the boredom and retain the personal connection and friendships we have with our students and their parents. For this reason, we would like to confirm that we will be continuing to offer online classes for term 3.

We have invested in a new communication platform called ZOOM to facilitate this.  The beauty of this platform is the simplicity of it: parents will receive a link via email and all you have to do is click on the link at the correct time to join a fun drama class.  This is a temporary solution until we are allowed to return to our usual classes.

Please understand that the ZOOM links will only be sent to students who have registered for the term so please let us know your intention as soon as possible if you haven’t already done so.

Indications are that our summer programme, The Fun Factory, will go on as planned. This assumption is based on a statement by the Minister of Education. Of course, we will keep you informed.

The new term dates will be from Monday, April 13 to Saturday, June 20

The timetable will be changed from previous online sessions in order to avoid clashes with school lessons (and parents’ work). The updated timetable will, of course, be communicated to you.

Enrolments must still be confirmed for a full term, however, we are knocking off €10 from the total fees. We would prefer fees to be paid in full as usual fees however we are offering the option of a monthly payment plan during this period for those that need it. For details, please send an email to and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

To those parents who have already paid the normal fee, don’t worry - we will credit €10 to your fees for the following term.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your consistent support. On our part, we will continue offering your children the best in self-development and communication skills.

Together with our international partners, we are adapting our award-winning curriculum so that it’s exciting and specific without sacrificing any of the Academy’s ethos that is to promote confidence, creativity and communication.

Stay safe. Stay healthy.
